This year, the Women’s Foundation built on past successes, hosting She’s on Board 2.0, welcoming its third cohort for the Mississippi Women Policy Institute, joining with community partners for a second year of Mississippi Women in the Lead, and holding Thrive @ Work with WJTV personality Kayla Thompson.

New Initiatives, New Opportunities

In addition to powering leadership programming, your support fuels our grantmaking process, which uses evidence-based strategies to ensure every dollar is allocated where it’s needed most.

This year, we launched a brand-new grant focus area dedicated to maternal and infant health in the Mississippi Delta. Not only will this grant focus area improve health outcomes for women and their families but also address key barriers to care that will ensure transformative change for generations to come.

Your support also made it possible for 14 organizations to enhance their work for our state’s women and girls. Here’s what our grantee, The S.H.E Project had to say about their work with the Women’s Foundation: 

“This grant has helped us fund a hygiene closet in 12 JPS Schools,” said Kyla Cousin in our talk with her about the S.H.E. Project. “From that work we hope to see children in JPS know that there are people in the community that can help them and get them the products they need.” 

What Grantee Support Looks Like

Through grantmaking, the Women’s Foundation of Mississippi helps community organizations reach their highest calling–distributing funds that power capacity building, grow service networks, and create new pathways for Mississippi’s women and girls. 

In September, we convened our grantees for a day full of learning, empowerment, and strategy. We discussed topics critical to organizational operations like communications, resource allocation, and capacity building.

Our strategic approach ensures that each dollar is shared where it will help the most, fueling things like:

• Family or child care services
• Career development training for single or working moms
• Community outreach programs
• Goods for hygiene pantries, baby items, food drives, or essential care items

When you donate to the Women’s Foundation, you power countless efforts that change the lives of women, their families, and their communities. As we like to say, when women thrive, Mississippi thrives!

Donate This Holiday Season

There are many ways you can participate in our end-of-year giving campaign. One way is by donating. Here are a few amounts to consider: 

• $35 helps feed a family of four for a week
• $60 covers the testing fees for a woman’s annual health exam
• $200 pays for a nursing licensure exam for a healthcare student
• $450 pays for infant care for one child for one month
