Aelicia Thomas

The Honorable Aelicia L. Thomas is a judge for the Bolivar County Court in Mississippi. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. W. Hunter Nowell to the 11th Circuit Court District.

Prior to her election, Thomas was an attorney at the Thomas Law Firm, supplementing her practice with service as the Prosecuting Attorney for Bolivar County and the Mayor of Rosedale. Before that, she was a staff attorney at North Mississippi Rural Legal Services.

Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree from Alcorn State University. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Mississippi School of Law.

Her memberships have included the Mississippi Bar Association, the Bolivar County Bar Association, the Magnolia Bar Association, the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Mississippi Prosecutors Association. She has also been involved with the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and the Order of Eastern Star, and she served on the Board of Directors for the Bolivar County Community Action Agency.

Raised in Maben, Mississippi, Thomas is the mother of two boys. Were not handling legal matters, she serves as the minister of Changing Your World Ministries in Rosedale. She is also a co-founder of the I Believe Project and a co-owner of A & A Realty.
