Iris M. Torres Soto holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Interamerican University of
Puerto Rico. She is an instructor, interpreter, translator, and social media manager for the Moore
Community House – Women in Construction Program, where she works closely with women, primarily
women of color, empowering them through education and skill development.
Passionate about empowering women and advocating for livable wages, Iris is dedicated to ensuring
women have the opportunities and resources they need to thrive. She aspires to be part of impactful
groups where decisions are made that affect underserved, hardworking communities.
Currently, Iris is volunteering with the Hispanic Syphilis Task Force, driven by the rising cases of syphilis in
Mississippi. She works to increase awareness and disseminate crucial information about the
identification, transmission, testing, and treatment of syphilis within the Hispanic community.
