Dr. Krystal Nicole Martin is a 1988 graduate of Gloster High School and a 3-time graduate of Jackson State University. Since 2009, she has served the Gloster community through her nonprofit work. In 2015, she officially launched KMartin Group/Ladybug Outreach to support and honor the community work started by her mom, Jane “Ladybug” Martin a former Alderwoman in the town of Gloster. By 2018, KMartin Group was established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit and charitable organization. The organization’s purpose is to help transform lives through advocacy, education, civic engagement, mentoring, and community engagement. After serving more than 25 years as a higher-education practitioner and administrator, she returned to her hometown to help galvanize her community and advocate for justice, clean air, and the overall health and well-being of the people. In 2023, she officially co-founded the Greater Greener Gloster Project. The project was formed in response to the air pollution problem caused by the woody biomass industry. Through the Greater Greener Gloster Project, she is committed to advocating for the protection of the environment and the public health of the youth and the residents of Gloster. Dr. Martin is the mother of two adult sons, Akeem (Monique) and Adarius, and three grand-daughters, Jordyn, Averi and Erin Nicole. As a servant leader, she is committed to being a catalyst for positive change. Her inspiration comes from Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change that you want to see in the world.”
