Jackson, MS – April 22, 2024 – For over 20 years, The Women’s Foundation of Mississippi (WFM) has worked to improve the lives of women and girls through its strategic grantmaking process. This year, the Foundation is awarding a total of $245,000 in grant funds to eleven organizations across the state, continuing its legacy of catalyzing women’s success.

“When women are doing well, it passes on to their children, and to their communities,” says Executive Director, Melanie Powell. “The grantmaking process allows the Foundation the opportunity to impact social change, and help organizations build capacity and improve systems in their communities in a lasting and transformative way.”

As the state’s sole grantmaker focused on women and girls, WFM provides support and expertise to local organizations looking to empower women in their communities.

“Through years of grantmaking, the Foundation has refined its grantmaking process to ensure grants are going to organizations that are just as committed to supporting women and girls as we are,” says Deputy Director, Frances Patterson Croft.

The eleven recipients, stretching from the Mississippi Delta to the Gulf Coast, will use the awarded grant funding to provide services like career advancement, leadership training, parenting support, health services, and child care that improve economic security for women and their families.
