Cherita Sade Brent, credited professionally as Rita Brent, is a multi-hyphenate comedian, actress, writer, musician, and military veteran.
After graduating from her HBCU alma mater, Jackson State University, she landed at Mississippi Public Broadcasting, where she served as a Radio Host and Producer.
In 2017, she made a big leap into standup comedy full-time. She has appeared on Comedy Central, truTV, Epix TV, Circle TV, CNN, and more. She tours as an opening act with her mentors, Rickey Smiley and Cedric the Entertainer. She has written for the 73rd Primetime EMMY Awards, the Academy of Country Music Awards, Stand Out: An LGBTQ Celebration on Netflix, The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and more.
She’s also an up-and-coming performing artist. Her most popular singles are “Kamala,” “Can You Rock Me Like a Pothole,” and “Do the Hoochie Daddy.” She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Recently nominated for a 2024 Writers Guild Award.
