WOMEN’S FOUNDATION OF MISSISSIPPI AWARDS $200,000 IN NEW GRANTS TO BENEFIT WOMEN AND GIRLS STATEWIDE
The Women’s Foundation has awarded more than $4 million in grants since 2003
The Women’s Foundation of Mississippi, a public grant making foundation focused on improving conditions for women and girls across the state, announced grant awards totaling $200,000 for nine Mississippi-based nonprofit agencies and programs. The investments fall in two of our priority areas identified by the Foundation: Access to Opportunity through a Two-Generation Approach and Healthy Women & Reproductive Health Education. The grants range from $7,500 to $25,000 and run for one year in length.
The organizations and programs the grants will benefit include:
Two-Generation Focus Area:
• Tutwiler Community Center, Tutwiler, MS – Quilting for Generations ($17,500)
• Vox Press, Greenville, MS and Pearl, MS – Children with Incarcerated Parents
Wellness Program ($7,500)
Healthy Women Focus Area:
• Cary Christian Center, Cary, MS – Sexual Health Skills Development ($25,000)
• Delta Health Center, Mound Bayou, MS – #ProjectRAD (Reaching Adolescents in the Delta) ($25,000)
• Exchange Club Family Center, Oxford, MS – Raising Mothers to Rise ($25,000)
• Hinds Community College, Raymond, MS – Back Off Baby -I am in College ($25,000)
• Magnolia Medical Foundation, Biloxi, MS – Encouraging Responsible and Informed Choices: Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program ($25,000)
• Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS – Health Promotions and Wellness Department: EmpowerHER ($25,000)
• Spring Initiative, Clarksdale, MS – Healthy Girls, Powerful Women, Strong Communities ($25,000)
Originally a fund housed at the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson, the Women’s Foundation has been an independent 501(c)(3) since 2008. In that time, the Foundation has awarded over $4 million in grants benefitting nonprofits, programs, and educational institutions across Mississippi.
