Meet the Honorees:
Willie Jones – President/CEO, Dependable Source Corp. of MS
Willie Jones is the President and CEO of Dependable Source Corp. of MS, a company providing workforce solutions to the transportation industry. Launched in 1995, Dependable Source Corp. of MS was recognized as one of the Largest Minority Owned Businesses by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2016.
She was selected by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2013 as one of the 50 Leading Business Women in Mississippi. She serves as the Vice Chair of the Board at the Margaret Walker Center at Jackson State University and is on the Board of the Jackson Arts Council. Since 2010, she has served as President of Women for Progress of Mississippi, Inc., a community service organization founded in 1978. She is the creator and co-host of Women for Progress Radio, a weekly radio program airing on WMPR 90.1. She earned degrees from Santa Monica College, Draughon’s Business School, and Millsaps College. She is a member of the Mississippi Minority Business Alliance, the Women in Trucking Association, the National Assocation of Professional Women, and the Jackson Rotary Club International. Jones is married to Harold Tyree Jones. Together they are the parents to two children and five grandchildren. They attend Anderson United Methodist Church. She is an avid golfer, traveler, and community advocate.

Ellen Langford – Artist, Community Activist, Educator
An artist native to Mississippi, Ellen build images with oil or acrylic of the physical and
psychological spaces and connections between church and tree, child and dog, blue and orange.
Whether commissioned, working from her heart in the studio, or painting on location,
Ellen is driven to communicate with layers of color and texture until each image becomes its own
and she can move on. Several paintings at a time are always in progress, and she moves back
and forth as each piece develops at its own pace. She tries to paint a playful, and often joyful,
outlook on life. She has always painted and as it has become her primary work,
it has become her way of storytelling.
After years away, studying and making art, it has been in returning to
Mississippi that her work has found its rhythm and become highly narrative as
she tries to make sense of the race, class, religious, cultural, mixed up gumbo of this place.
She became a parent in this post-Katrina war time, and this is having a
profound effect on her thoughts and her work.

Cathy Northington – Chief Operating Officer, Mississippi Economic Council, State Chamber of Commerce
Cathy Northington is the Chief Operating Officer at the Mississippi Economic Council, State Chamber of Commerce.
Northington began at MEC more than a decade ago as a part-time employee and has continued to work her way up, managing a variety of key projects and programs. Since 2007, she has directed Leadership Mississippi, the nation’s second-oldest leadership program. She has also managed MEC’s three major meetings: The MEC Annual Meeting, Hobnob Mississippi and MEC Capital Day, each with over 1,500 business and community leaders and elected officials attending.
The Jackson native studied marketing at Mississippi College and enjoys giving back to the community through her volunteer work as a member of the Junior League of Jackson and American Heart Association’s Circle of Red. A mother of three, Northington is also a member of the Madison Ridgeland Rotary Club and a board member of R.E.A.L. Christian Foundation.
Northington has been chosen as the Our Mississippi Magazine 2018 Business Women of the Year. She was named the 2017 Young Gifted and Empowered Leader of the Year, was a 2012 recipient of the Mississippi Business Journal Top 40 Under 40 award, and was a member of the Mississippi Business Journal’s 50 Leading Business Women in Mississippi for 2014.
Carol Todd Puckett – Founder of Everyday Gourmet and Everyday Gardener, Community Activist
Carol Puckett is a consultant working in the hospitality industry and with non-profits on strategic planning. Formerly president of the Viking Hospitality Group for Viking Range Corporation in Greenwood, MS, she was the founder of the Everyday Gourmet, a cooking school and gourmet retail store operating in Jackson, MS and it’s companion store, the Everyday Gardener.
She currently serves as chair of the USA International Ballet Competition and on the boards of directors of the Mississippi Arts Commission, B.B. King Museum, Grammy Museum Mississippi, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi and Tougaloo College. She is past president of the Junior League of Jackson and past chair of the Mississippi Women’s Forum. Carol was educated in the Jackson Public Schools and at Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina where she received a B.A. in English and History. She is the daughter of Dorothy Puckett and the late Ben Puckett of Jackson.
